The free 30 minute consultation will be to assess the specific issues in your child's special education case and determine if I will represent you and in what capacity.
During the 30 minute consult, I will review the documents and provide advice on the key issues and discuss your child's educational history and your concerns. We will discuss the applicable law and I will make recommendations as to how you can improve your child's education programs and services.
If I agree to represent you on your child's behalf, I will then discuss the retainer needed to secure my services. This amount depends on the difficulty of the case and ranges from $1000 to $2500 payable in cash, check or credit card (using PAYPAL). I will also provide you with my fee agreement for you to review and sign Finally, I will have you sign a release for me to give to the school district and other professionals as required.

Client Consultation Preparation for Special Education
Prior to the consultation, you should obtain your child's complete school file from the school district. You can do this by using the form letter requesting the master file located in the forms/letters page of this site.
When you receive the master file of school records from the school district, please make two copies of the school file. Keep the original in its original order and hold on to it.
Then, separate the school records in the remaining two copies by putting similar documents together (including duplicates) in chronological order with the most recent documents first. A good example of dividing into chronological groups would be:
-- Private Assessments
-- School Assessments
-- IEPs
-- Disciplinary Records
-- Letters
-- Attendance Records
-- Other
Put the documents in a binder and send me a copy in advance of the consultation.
